The Domestic Santa-Barbarian

Some of you know my lovely neighbor Teresa. We met when Dana and I moved into what is now dubbed Bear Cat Manor and hit it off from the start. T is equal parts sweet, funny, talented, smart and dorky... a great combination to find in a friend! I wanted to share her hilarious ponderings with you in the form of her new blog- The Domestic Barbarian. Check it out. It is sure to make you giggle. This post in particular about her and her fantastical hubs Gavin's honeymoon planning made me laugh out loud. I can definitely relate.

Bunnies Bunnies Everywhere

In true nerd-fashion, Dana and I attended this year's Bunny Festival! Afraid Mini would have a mini bunny panic attack, we didn't bring her, but we went on her behalf. Secretly, I thought we might find a furry friend to adopt for her (we even considered this pretty little Red below) but decided that one bun is all the bun we need for the time being.

This fluffy white bunny was hilarious! Basically a white puff with feet and ears. Ladies were using his fur to make angora thread. Ew? But resourceful! And of course, below is my Mini, in her new wicker tent. I think she looks very noble lounging under it's A-frame roof. Now she can reenact scenes from the Wicker Man whenever she wants. "Not the Beeees!!!!"

There aren't many things that are cuter than a hedgehog. Just to prove it to you, some cute hedgie mugshots:

Now if only my friend Jessica would get one! She just moved to Texas, a state where it is legal to own a hedgie as a pet! Hint hint nudge nudge.

Yep, pretty much sums it up. If there's anything I've learned about bunnies, it's that the furry balls of cuteness have a bit of an evil side. But I still love my own crazy little Mini. She's quite a character, and is always cracking me up with her weird little bunny-isms.

Furry Subjects

In the time the EmmieBean shop has been in existence, I have illustrated many a furry friend. Most recently, I got to depict a tiny monkey resting on a girl's shoulder! So much fun. If it was legal to own tiny spider(?) monkeys, I definitely would have one and dub him Claude.

For this year's Halloween, D and I are dressing up like our favorite TV partners (and sometimes lovers), Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. I am so excited. We also came up with the ridiculous idea of dressing up Emma and Mini like little green aliens. It is going to be quite a spectacle.
