In honor of our impending road trip up HWY 1, I thought I'd feature one of the cutest cars ever made: the BMW Isetta!
Created in the early '50s by a small Italian company, the Isetta's design was envisioned as a complete hodgepodge, combining the look of two scooters, a refrigerator, and a teardrop trailer. The Isetta is only 7.5 feet long and has just one door that opens forwards. And although car aficionados can currently only purchase Isetta kits and replicas, there have been rumors that a new version of the Isetta is slated for release in 2010.
Another reason I love this car? Steve Urkel drove one in Family Matters. And although his lady friend doesn't look all that impressed, I consider the Isetta to be a true chick magnet.

All I can say is that if I saw a man in an Isetta, I would be all over that.

It's very cute and compact... Perhaps the best word to describe the car is quirky, right? It's size and overall design is not something that you see in automobiles, from this and the previous generations of cars.
