2012 Holiday Craft Show Season in Pictures

What a fun season it was! A big thanks to all the customers I got to meet in person at all the fairs... it's always the icing on the cake to meet you and hear the lovely stories behind the photos you send me. Here's to a great 2013 xo

 

 

The Venice Meet

EmmieBean recently had the pleasure of participating in the first-ever Venice Meet, a monthly craft fair held on Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice, CA. The fair was super fun and really well-curated, with lots of awesome craftspeople, food artisans, and live music. One of my fav vendors was Ice-Ice Shavie, a mixology-inspired approach to crazy-delicious shaved-ice treats… I'm ashamed (and not so ashamed) to say I ate 3 that day- one tasted link a Mint Julep, another was lemon, blackberry, and thyme, and the third- elderflower and lemonade. Um, yes, they were bomb. Must recreate at home sometime.

EmmieBean did SO well, I was so proud :) The hubs helped run the EB booth with me, and we sold vouchers for custom illustrations that worked like this: the customer purchased a cute voucher for an illustration, we told them to email me the photo at their convenience (some were buying in advance for Christmas cards- I wish I could be that ahead of the curve!), and we let them know I'd mail them the print about a week after they sent me their photo. Super simple concept. We had a steady stream of people all day, which was rad. Go little EmmieBean booth!

Excited for the next craft fairs! EmmieBean will for sure be at the next Venice Meets in May, June, and July- so stay tuned for deets!

The Domestic Santa-Barbarian

Some of you know my lovely neighbor Teresa. We met when Dana and I moved into what is now dubbed Bear Cat Manor and hit it off from the start. T is equal parts sweet, funny, talented, smart and dorky... a great combination to find in a friend! I wanted to share her hilarious ponderings with you in the form of her new blog- The Domestic Barbarian. Check it out. It is sure to make you giggle. This post in particular about her and her fantastical hubs Gavin's honeymoon planning made me laugh out loud. I can definitely relate.

Wedded Bliss

So for those of you who don't know why this little blog took such a long snooze this summer, it's because I was off getting hitched! After nine long years together, Dana and I tied the knot at Jalama Canon Ranch under the oak trees. It was a marvelous, perfect day that we won't soon forget. Here are a few photos from our happy happy day...

Bunnies Bunnies Everywhere

In true nerd-fashion, Dana and I attended this year's Bunny Festival! Afraid Mini would have a mini bunny panic attack, we didn't bring her, but we went on her behalf. Secretly, I thought we might find a furry friend to adopt for her (we even considered this pretty little Red below) but decided that one bun is all the bun we need for the time being.

This fluffy white bunny was hilarious! Basically a white puff with feet and ears. Ladies were using his fur to make angora thread. Ew? But resourceful! And of course, below is my Mini, in her new wicker tent. I think she looks very noble lounging under it's A-frame roof. Now she can reenact scenes from the Wicker Man whenever she wants. "Not the Beeees!!!!"

Weddin' Steadily Approachin'!

Hey loves... sorry I have been a little absent. Have been super busy with work and wedding planning, etcetera. With only 4 months to until the big day, we're checking more and more things off of our wedding to-do list. I'm curious... what are the cooler things you've experienced at other people's weddings? What unique things really stood out? I would love to add to my ever growing list of lovely must-do details.

The New Rhiannon?

So, of course, I've been listening to Stevie Nicks's new album, In Your Dreams, on repeat for the last day. In a word: Enchanting. Everything a girl could ask for from the wild-haired songstress. One of my favorite songs on the album is Moonlight, which the singer says she wrote about "the love stories between monsters, gods, and humans." She dedicated the song to Edward and Bella. haha! Now for those of you who know what a huge dork I am (as if this post wasn't enough of an indication), I may have done a little happy dance when I heard that. Listen to Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream) here and read the epic lyrics. If those don't put you under the Gold Dust Woman's spell, I don't know what will.

 

I Die.

Stevie's video for "Secret Love" was released today. Note the end where she disappears in a poof! of sparkles. That woman is such an enchantress. Cannot wait for the release of her new album on May 3rd. I feel like bottles will have to be popped and candles lit on that special night!
