What a fun season it was! A big thanks to all the customers I got to meet in person at all the fairs... it's always the icing on the cake to meet you and hear the lovely stories behind the photos you send me. Here's to a great 2013 xo
EmmieBean recently had the pleasure of participating in the first-ever Venice Meet, a monthly craft fair held on Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice, CA. The fair was super fun and really well-curated, with lots of awesome craftspeople, food artisans, and live music. One of my fav vendors was Ice-Ice Shavie, a mixology-inspired approach to crazy-delicious shaved-ice treats… I'm ashamed (and not so ashamed) to say I ate 3 that day- one tasted link a Mint Julep, another was lemon, blackberry, and thyme, and the third- elderflower and lemonade. Um, yes, they were bomb. Must recreate at home sometime.
EmmieBean did SO well, I was so proud :) The hubs helped run the EB booth with me, and we sold vouchers for custom illustrations that worked like this: the customer purchased a cute voucher for an illustration, we told them to email me the photo at their convenience (some were buying in advance for Christmas cards- I wish I could be that ahead of the curve!), and we let them know I'd mail them the print about a week after they sent me their photo. Super simple concept. We had a steady stream of people all day, which was rad. Go little EmmieBean booth!
Excited for the next craft fairs! EmmieBean will for sure be at the next Venice Meets in May, June, and July- so stay tuned for deets!
Just posted a new print in the DearEmmie shop! Check it out when you get a chance and feel free to leave comments here on what you'd love to see in the store in the future! And more prints to come soon...
It's official. I am manic over Olive Manna. This sweet papergoods and packaging shop makes me swoon. It's amazing I haven't purchased everything in their cute online shop for my own new Etsy shop, DearEmmie (coming soon!!)
Check out some of these pics, and I'm sure you will be equally smitten with Olive Manna's simple and elegant products.
Sorry to all my lovely friends and family who have called me over the last week only to find me M.I.A.! I've been racing around trying to get my newest venture, DearEmmie off the ground! And I am pleased to announce, today was the official opening of the new shop!! Hooray!
As many of you know, the idea to start a new paper goods shop has been in the making for a while. A lot of careful planning and creating went into making it happen, and as of today, all of the DearEmmie ducks finally got into a row :)
More prints will go up in the shop over the next week, but for now, I will leave you with the first three prints to make a debut:
And a special thanks to Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros for letting me use their sweet and poignant lyrics from the song "Home." For those of you who aren't familiar with their music, they are some talented folks. Also, they put on a mean mean live show.
Just created these postcards as part of my holiday marketing. The orders are already rolling in, so get yours in if you'd like to give any as gifts this year! Friends & family get a special discount ;)
In the time the EmmieBean shop has been in existence, I have illustrated many a furry friend. Most recently, I got to depict a tiny monkey resting on a girl's shoulder! So much fun. If it was legal to own tiny spider(?) monkeys, I definitely would have one and dub him Claude.
This weekend Dana and I are attending one of our favorite annual events- The Renegade Craft Fair! Last year we went to the one in Los Angeles and had a blast. They had a photo booth, tons of talented artists, crafters, and enthusiasts, and lots of fun things to purchase and collect.
This year we decided to hit up San Francisco's Renegade because it gives us a great excuse to escape to one of our favorite cities, and it is supposed to be HUGE compared to the little one in L.A. Plus, some of my favorite etsians are boothing-it at this year's event, so it will give me a chance to chat with some fellow creatives in person and do a little research on renting a booth for EmmieBean next year. Can't wait!
